The 'Polifemo' project, presented by the municipal administration of Lamezia Terme (CZ) and in collaboration with the 24 August Movement for Territorial Equity, is the result of research by BlockchainLab SRL, a leading company in the field of blockchain technologies for data certification.
Support is provided by the University of Calabria whose goal is to facilitate greater accessibility to research and development.
Polifemo is an advanced counter that allows you to analyze the flow of people's movements in a certain area through the use of technologies such as Machine Learning and Streaming of data derived from real-time analysis of images. The small size makes Polifemo minimally invasive, easy to install and place. The system is also based on the concept of 'Privacy by Default' in order to ensure the processing of personal data only to the extent that is sufficient for the intended purposes and for the period strictly necessary for these purposes. Therefore, since there is no need for data storage, the anonymity of the subjects involved will be preserved.
Polifemo will be installed on the "Falcone - Borsellino" seafront of Lamezia Terme, a city that will participate in a free experimental project whose purpose will be to collect and analyze data relating to all those who, on a daily basis or occasionally like to savor the vitality of the seafront, to develop a development model for the tourism sector based on the attendance recorded by the system. The press conference to present the project was scheduled for Friday, 07 August 2020, at 18.00 at the Baia del Sole seaside resort located on the "Falcone - Borsellino" seafront in the Municipality of Lamezia Terme, but due to the weather alert it was decided to postpone the 'event on Sunday, 09 August 2020, at 18.00. The meeting, included in the summer program of the Municipality, will be an opportunity for comparison with relative debate in order to consolidate the relationship of mutual collaboration between the 24 August Movement for Territorial Equity and the Municipal Administration of Lamezia Terme which has been created and intensified in tackling together the emergency state caused by COVID-19 and thinking about the recovery phase. Followed by a tasting of typical Calabrian products and culinary dishes characteristic of the territory, all accompanied by the nectar of the local gods.
We hope many of you will come!
